I met with the owner of Deep South Meat Supplies the other day about the meat she supplies from ethical farmed sources and her passion for proper, wholesome and healthy food. She then invited me to the Noordhoek Village Market. I accepted the invitation and took my family with me for a great evening out with good conversation and a great atmosphere. Her invitation and the experience was the spark that set the whole thing in motion.

My mind is always busy with ideas as to how I can raise funds to cover the operational expenses of Coastal Livelihoods Foundation so that we are able to help and empower the fishing communities in which we work. I was baking pancakes (crepes) the one morning and thinking back on the village marget experience. This led me to take stock of all the assets I have available at my disposal to make the fundraising project a reality. It was then that I realised that yes I am good at baking but I have in my possession a very special recipe. It is a cookie recipe which was developed by my grandmother many years back and the recipe has been handed down from her to my mother and then to me. It is a unique cookie that once you have tasted it, you will always long for more. It is so good that you will be able to recall taste the cookie days after you had one.

Well this old family recipe is now being put to good use with the launch of our Cookie Project. If you want more information on how the project is doing have a look at “The Cookie Project”.
